Why sublimation?

I used to do tumblers with epoxy resin and glitter. But I recently came across a new and more durable way to make tumblers, pens, puzzles, and more! It is called sublimation. It is a process of printing and transferring with heat to the product. The ink and paper is special, along with the product itself.

How is it more durable?
I am glad you asked! Sublimation permanently presses the image into the product and makes it less likely to chip or crack. With epoxy resin, it’s almost like a plastic film over top, and we all know that plastic cracks! Sublimation can’t scratch or dent or fade. The tumblers are still not dishwasher safe, but not because of the process, but the tumbler itself. Almost every tumbler is vacuum sealed, which helps keep your drinks cold or hot! So if it goes through the dishwasher, it can cause that seal to become undone, and water can get in there.
